The survey, organised jointly by the Newsquest Group chapel and the Health and Safety Executive, is to gauge the level of stress in newsrooms caused by the running down of staffing levels, which has been intensified by cuts this year on some papers.
The initiative follows a successful campaign in Scotland, including at Newsquest titles, to demand that our members are no longer forced to work longer hours without breaks and suffer undue stress.
The survey questionnaires contain 37 multiple choice questions and are based on HSE guidelines. Where the levels are above the accepted levels then the HSE has the power to examine a company's working practices and even take legal action. AW 2008-10-05
